APOYO A LA ORQUESTRA SIMFÒNICA DE BALEARS

Desde AMPOS lanzamos esta recogida de firmas para ayudar a nuestros compañeros de la Orquesta Simfònica de Balears “Ciutat de Palma”. El Gobierno Balear propuso una reducción del 10% del presupuesto de la Orquesta para el año 2012; con este recorte, la orquesta se ve obligada a hacer un serio esfuerzo para continuar con su tarea, pero la otras dos instituciones de las que depende la orquesta, Consell Insular y Ayuntamiento, quieren aumentar este recorte hasta el 37% y el 32% respectivamente. Si es así, la Orquestra Simfònica de Balears no podrá desarrollar su actividad habitual, no sólo por no poder sustentar la infraestructura que requiere una orquesta sinfónica, como son la contratación de solistas y directores, desplazamientos, transporte, etc. sino también por no poder pagar las nóminas de los trabajadores. Los trabajadores de la orquesta son conscientes de la situación económica actual y están haciendo grandes esfuerzos: faltan seis plazas por cubrir, no se cubren bajas, no se están contratando refuerzos, se deben mucho dinero a proveedores, se ven obligados a negociar el pago de nóminas y otras pagas. Estamos viviendo momentos en los que todos debemos colaborar para superar esta crisis, pero pensamos que la Orquesta es imprescindible para el funcionamiento cultural de las Islas. El objetivo de esta recogida de firmas es conseguir que el Ayuntamiento y el Consell equiparen su presupuesto al del Gobierno, ya recortado de por sí. Pedimos a todas las personas que quieran mostrar su apoyo y solidaridad con los músicos de la Orquestra Simfònica de Balears “Ciutat de Palma”y apoyar la cultura balear que se adhieran a este manifiesto. TODOS CON LA “ORQUESTRA SIMFÒNICA DE BALEARS”, TODOS CON LA CULTURA”. ********************************************************************************************************************* The Spanish Association of Professional Symphony Orchestra Musicians (AMPOS) is collecting signatures in support of colleagues at the Orquestra Simfònica de Balears “Ciutat de Palma”. The Balearic Government proposes a further 10% cut in the orchestra’s already skeletal budget, but the Palma City and Majorcan Councils have announced reductions of 32% and 37% respectively in their contributions, making not only orchestral activity impossible (paying conductors, soloists, travel costs, transport of instruments etc.) but just paying monthly wages too. We seriously need to limit the overall cutback to 10% in order to survive at all. The orchestra employees are fully aware everyone has extreme financial difficulties at present, and are already functioning with six posts unfilled, no substitutes, no extra players, ever-increasing debts and having to negotiate wage payments etc. The orchestra was formed over 60 years ago and ‘professionalized’ in 1989, and we believe it’s vital to the arts and tourism industry in the Balearic Islands. WHY SIGN? Maybe our politicians will listen (and maybe not) to thousands of voices telling them the arts may not be the first priority in times of crisis, but they’re not the last either.
